the thinker

18/06/2026

Lately I’ve been seeing this whole “vulnerability is a superpower” discourse everywhere online.

Basically, the idea is that vulnerability is some kind of gift, and people often make it sound like this rare and wonderful thing. Honestly, I can’t really look at vulnerability that way. It feels like an extreme way of thinking, and I don’t think it should be romanticized to that extent.

Sure, being honest about your feelings and expressing them without shame is a good thing. But the way people romanticize vulnerability sometimes feels a bit excessive. Like we’ve gone from “it’s okay to be vulnerable” to “vulnerability is the highest form of human existence.”

A lot of the time, this trait ends up being associated with being fragile, which isn’t true at all. Unfortunately, that’s just how things work, and there’s not much we can do to change it. But pretending society magically stopped viewing it that way because we made a few TikToks about emotional intelligence seems a little optimistic.

In general, a lot of people take advantage of vulnerable people because it gives them a sense of control or ownership over them.

Personally, I only really consider myself vulnerable in very specific situations, mostly when it comes to friendships. I rarely leave things unsaid, and I get hurt pretty easily. Not exactly my favorite personality trait, but unfortunately it’s not something I can really hide.

Anyway, no deep conclusion here. I’m at work, my brain decided this was today’s topic, and now you’re reading it !

Go touch some grass >:( enjoy the sun, and take care.
